About Michelle

Hi there; welcome to my blog!

My name is Michelle, and I've been living in the Salt Lake City-area since September 2010. I spent most of my life being raised in eastern Pennsylvania, but before moving to Utah, I lived in Long Island, New York, for eight years. I never thought I'd live anywhere but the east coast, but on July 16, 2010, a very tall, very handsome Salt Lake City-based pilot asked me to marry him. This seemed like a good reason to move to Utah; we got married on May 14, 2011.

My husband Ed and I enjoy traveling: Domestically we've traveled to visit family and friends in Pennsylvania; Long Island; Massachusetts; the Washington, D.C. metro area; and the San Francisco Bay Area. Ed and I have also visited New York City, Brooklyn, Seattle, and Las Vegas. We've explored Stockholm, Tallinn, and Helsinki; we spent 19 wonderful days driving around Iceland on our honeymoon. Most recently we traveled to Rome and Vatican City for Christmas in December 2014; and I took Ed Ireland to visit my parents and meet some of my extended family in July 2015.

I'm a teacher by training: I attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook in Long Island (the forgotten part of New York), from which I graduated in 2007 with a B.A. in English, with concentrations in American literature and British literature; in 2015, I graduated with an M.A. in English (with an emphasis on Rhetoric and the Teaching of Writing) from Northern Arizona University. I currently teach English 1010 (Introduction to Writing) and English 2010 (Intermediate Writing) at Salt Lake Community College and English (10th grade Language Arts, 12th grade Language Arts, ACT Prep, and Concurrent Enrollment) at Copper Hills High School.
